Joseph colors
– Pink for the skin
– Gray for body and harms
– Black for hair and beard
– Dark green for the tunic
– Wheat and a little white for the hat
To make head, body and harms of Joseph, please follow the basic shapes pattern I published before.
Abbreviations
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
inc – increase
dec – decrease
bl – back loops
sl st – slip stitch
About the pattern: work in continuous Rounds unless differently specified.
Hat pattern
Round 1: using weat color, magic ring, 8 sc inside the ring, work in continuous rounds using a stitch marker
Round 2: 2 sc around (16)
Round 3: (1 inc, 1 sc) around (24)
Round 4: (1 inc, 2 sc) around (32)
Round 5: (1 inc, 3 sc) around (40)
Round 6: bl sc around (40)
Rounds 7-11: sc around (40)
Sl st on next sc to close the round and cut the yarn leaving a 25 cm long tail to sew the hat to the head. Embroider the hat using the white yarn as shown in the picture. Sew the hat on the head and stuff gently as soon as you have 5.6 sts left to join.
Embroider two rounds of black hair around the hat and the bear as shown.
Tunic pattern
Do not work in continuous rounds but turn ath the end of each row.
Row 1: using dark green color, 18 ch, insert crochet hook on third ch from hook and work 16 dc. Turn.
Rows 2-9: 2 ch, 16 dc. Turn
Row 10: 2 ch, 3 dc. Leave the other dc unworked and turn.
Rows 11-12: 2 ch, 3 dc. Turn.
Row 13: 2 ch, inc, 2 dc. Turn.
Row 14: 2 ch, 2 dc, 2 inc. Turn.
Row 15: 2 ch, 2 inc, 4 dc. Turn.
Rows 16-17: 2 ch, 8 dc. Turn.
Row 18: 2 ch, 8 dc. Sl st and cut the yarn.
Row 19: Insert hook on the opposite corner of the strap just finished and work 34 sc on the entire side (strap + square). Turn.
Row 20: 1 ch, bl 34 sc. Turn
Row 21: 1 ch, 10 sc, 14 dc, 10 sc. Sl st and cut the yarn.
Opposite side
Inser crochet hook on the opposite corner of the initial square and work from row 10 to row 21, but on row 20, instead of working in back loops, do that in front loops.
Sc all around the tunic to refine the edges.
Sew the tunic to Joseph body as you see it in the pictures.
