The giraffe crochet beanie is part of the giraffe costume, but it can be used on it’s own as the kids really love it.

Yarn weight: Worsted / 10 ply (9 wpi), brown and yellow
Hook size: 5.0 mm (G)

DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet

Giraffe beanie
Giro 1: using brown yarn, magic ring, 6 SC in ring (6)
Giro 2: 2 SC in every SC precedente (12)
Giro 3: change color, 1 SC in every SC, work in back loops only, sl st on top of first SC (12)
Giro 4: INC DC in every SC around, sl st on top of first DC (24)
Giro 5: ch 2, (1 DC, INC) around, sl st on top of first DC (36)
Giro 6: ch 2, (2DC, INC) around, sl st on top of first DC (48)
Giro 7: ch 2, (2DC, INC) around, sl st on top of first DC (48)

Giro 3: ch 2, DC around leaving last 4 stitches unworked, sl st and cut the yarn (20)
Front sides
Giro 1: start with brown yarn, magic ring, ch 2, 12 DC in magic ring, sl st on top of first DC (tot 12)
Giro 2: ch 2, 2 DC around, sl st on top of first DC, sl st and cut the yarn (24)
Assembly
Sew together ears front sides and back sides. Pinch the bottom side, where are the 4 stitches unworked and sew the sides together.
Sew horns a stitch below the central one and ears a stitch below horns.
Brown dots
Protect your table with a plastic cloth and shape your sponge with a knife or the scissors.
Drop a bit of cloth color in a plastic dish and mix it with a bit of water. Put the sponge in the color and push it around the costume to shape as many dots as you like.
